About Us

Founded in 2019, Firefly Forest Designs was born on a leap of faith with help from some incredible strangers turned friends. The Firefly Forest Designs name was inspired by Dollywood amusement park and a beautiful glowing tree that reminded me of fireflies. At the time, I had never seen one in person before.

I was working as a bank teller and struggling to cope with chronic migraine headaches. When the bank restructured, I knew I couldn’t continue there with the way things became. I took a leap of faith and decided to start selling crystals and minerals on Instagram while I looked for a new job.

In March 2019 I set the table for my first small show. I knew no one on Instagram, but 6 wonderful strangers showed up to support me. My little shop slowly started growing.

In June of 2019 I was introduced to Mala beads. I was instantly smitten. Designing Malas and filling each hand tied knot with specific intentions became therapeutic for me. I met more and more friends through my business and eventually started doing custom pieces. Without a doubt, this is the most fulfilling part of what I do. There is no greater joy for me than receiving a message from someone telling me how their piece helped them on their journey. 

One of the greatest moments of this journey for me was creating a piece for someone who was trying to conceive. We created a piece that would symbolize fertility, conception, healthy pregnancy in the event a pregnancy occurred, all the way through to incorporate stones that promote mother/child bonding and relationships. For someone to come to me to create such a meaningful piece, one that is so deeply personal was a huge honor. Some time later, I found out she was pregnant. She gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. The amount of joy I felt was beyond words.

Crystals and Mala beads are beautiful companions for our journey. They symbolize the best of our intentions and the most difficult of our struggles. They are a reminder of the magic that is in each one of us. As we work on our intentions and healing, WE are making it happen. Not the crystals. As beautiful as they are, WE are the magic.

This journey for me has had its ups and downs. Like any person, I’ve experienced burn out, fear of failure, anxiety, and moments of questioning my ability. But I have also been shown how loved, capable, creative, strong, and worthy I am. The incredible community on Instagram that has been built has helped shape me not only into the artist I am today, but also the person I am. The friends I’ve made, the deep meaningful connections, as well as having my incredible parents by my side helping immensely and cheering me on, has been life changing. I am so lucky to have been able to turn this dream into a reality, and I am so grateful each and every day for the opportunity to be a part of so many individual journeys.
